Silica-silicon composites for near-infrared reflection: A comprehensive computational and experimental study

چکیده
Compact layers containing embedded semiconductor particles consolidated using pulsed electric current sintering exhibit intense, broadband near-infrared reflectance. The composites from nano- or micro-silica powder have a different porous microstructure which causes scattering at the air-matrix interface and larger reflectance primarily in visible region. 3 mm thick composite compacts reflect up to 72% of incident radiation region with microinclusion volume fraction 1% closely matches predictions multiscale Monte Carlo modeling Kubelka-Munk theory. Further, calculated spectra predict reddish tan compact improved can be obtained by decreasing average particle size broadening standard deviation. high is achieved minimal dissipative losses facile manufacturing, described herein are well-suited control radiative transfer heat devices temperature under harsh conditions.

Progress in Silica Chemistry – Determination of Physico-Chemical Parameters via Near-Infrared Diffuse Reflection Spectroscopy
In analytical chemistry, silica gel plays a pre-dominant role in separation science. It is the most important stationary phase in chromatography and electrophoresis. Separation efficiency is directly dependent on the quality and physical properties of the chromatographic bed. Therefore, methods for the physicochemical characterisation of silica stationary phases have been developed over the pas...
متن کاملExperimental study of fracture mechanics in the aluminum matrix composites containing Fifteen percent silicon carbide particles
In this investigation ‚the fracture toughness of A356 containing15%SiC composite was studied. Al/SiC composites have been considered because of their mechanical and erosion properties .Low fracture toughness in Al/SiC as compared with Aluminium alloys is one of its disadvantage. In this study at first A356 alloy was melted in a smelting electrical furnace then poured into the mould. A356-15% Si...

We present a survey for extended 2.2 μm emission in 20 new visual reflection nebulae, illuminated by stars with temperatures of 3,600 — 33,000 K. We detect extended 2.2 μm emission in 13 new nebulae, illuminated by stars with temperatures of 6,800 – 33,000 K. For most of these 13 nebulae we have measured J −K, H −K, and K −L, as well as obtaining surface brightness measurements at the wavelengt...
